The whip is an important part of your horse driving equipment. Just like your legs, seat, and hands are important aids for riding a horse, your whip becomes the "replacement" for those aids considering that a driver doesn't have physical contact with the horse. The reins, voice, and whip act as aids for controlling the driving horse.
